Empowering STAE through Digital Literacy

On 14–15 November 2024, Executive Director of Hadomi Timor Foundation (FHT), Mr. Nicho Linux, facilitated a two-day Digital Literacy Training for employees of the Secretariat of Technical Administration for Elections (STAE) from both the national and municipal levels. The training took place at JL. Villa Fatuhada and aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of digital transformation in governance and civic engagement.

The sessions covered four key areas: Digital Platform Integration, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Development, Digital Potential and Threats, and Digital Security and Privacy. Through interactive presentations and real-world case studies, Mr. Nicho Linux emphasized the importance of secure digital practices in the context of public service, elections, and citizen interaction. The training contributed to enhancing digital readiness within STAE, enabling staff to apply digital tools more effectively in their daily work while remaining aware of the associated risks and responsibilities.

This initiative reflects FHT’s ongoing commitment to building digital capacity among government institutions and supporting democratic processes through technology. The training also provided an opportunity for STAE staff to reflect on current digital challenges and to explore innovative solutions that can improve transparency, accessibility, and trust in electoral administration.
